How to cook with fresh herbs

Herbs are fun and easy to grow. When picked, they make even the simplest dish look like a gourmet treat. By using spices in your cooking, you can easily change the taste of your recipes in various ways depending on the spices you add. Fresh herbs go well with breads, stews, soups or vegetables. Every time you add a different ingredient, you completely change the taste.

If you are a beginner, start slowly, add and adjust little by little until you get it right. In most cases, you will notice that certain ingredients are associated with certain foods. Basil is combined with tomatoes, oregano with sauce, rosemary with lamb and onions with butter or cream cheese. Of course, none of them are limited to this product, but you will most often see them in combination with this particular food. Use your imagination and experiment, experiment, experiment!

You can make herbal vinegar for salad dressings, marinades, or soups. Herbal oils are especially useful in cooking when a recipe calls for it.

Fresh herbs and spices spice up every dish and make it truly spectacular. Place the rosemary sprigs on top of the roast lamb. Chop fresh parsley and sprinkle it over your potato salad. The combinations are endless and the results are delicious.

Fresh herbs are stored in the refrigerator for several days, after which you need to freeze them. They can be frozen by placing them in a plastic bag with a paper towel. Once frozen, use it only for cooking, not as a side dish. A friend of mine washed it, put an ice tray on it, covered it with water and then froze it. When he needed soup, stew or gravy, he just dropped a cube.

My favorite herbs are basil, oregano, lemon balm, parsley and mint. Mint is great, but be careful, mint can outperform your garden. The advice here is to bury the empty coffee box and plant mint in it. A chest prevents the mint from creeping throughout the garden.

I love making herbal oils. Take half a cup of softened butter and mix in about 4 tablespoons of fresh herbs. Spread a piece of grasshopper skin, put butter in center roll, wrap grasshopper skin into butter spout. Put it in the fridge and whenever you need a stick of butter, just cut the stick. (Tips for log butter: potatoes, bread, steak, pasta, or any type of sauce).

The fresh herbs in any salad dressing really make it shine. You can use any potion or combination, get creative.

I learned an old trick of using basil, lemon and avocado to instantly make a natural face mask. Place a large handful of basil in a blender and run at high speed. Once the basil is sprinkled, add half an avocado and a large teaspoon of lemon juice and mix until smooth. Wash your face, pat dry and gently rub on the avocado mixture. Leave it for as long as you like, then rinse with warm water.

These are just a few of the ways you can use fresh herbs from your garden. I'm sure you can think of more. Happy cooking Did you find this article helpful?
